Forestry
Our area forester, Isabelle Uganski, proudly serves Allegan, Barry, Calhoun, Eaton, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Ottawa and Van Buren counties. She works hard to help educate the community on their forest health concerns, as well as assists landowners in the process of enrolling into the Michigan Forestry Assistance Program (FAP). Her main office is in Barry County.

Michigan Woodland Pests
In Michigan, our trees face a variety of problems, from parasitic to environmental. Some of these pest include oak wilt (as seen in the prior image), a fungal pathogen that can be detrimental to red oaks; cedar-apple rust, a two-host pathogen; and spongy moth, an invasive insect that can defoliate large forests.

Forestry Assistance Program (FAP)
Landowners with 20 or more acres of wooded land may be eligible for MDARD funded Forestry Assistance Program (FAP). Through this program, landowners receive professional assistance in assessing the health of their forest and planning the best management practices moving forward.
